Just what is lease and maintenance escalation?

A:

This is usually in 4-point font in the terms and conditions of the lease or maintenance agreement. Copier companies will tell you this is an industry standard due to equipment requiring more parts and labor as the copier ages. This can be in the range of a 5%-10% raise in price each year.  Copier companies have the choice when setting up the lease to escalate either the copier, maintenance or both. Best scenario is no escalation but if escalation is a foregone conclusion demand escalation on just the maintenance, not copier and maintenance.
